Danish Ceramic & Glass Table Lamps

In Denmark lighting plays an important role, not surprising given how few daylight hours they have there in December and January!

So the Danes can be trusted to know a thing or two about lighting and to have produced an awful lot of lovely lamps! It’s relatively rare in Scandinavia to have a central, high light source illuminating the whole room. Instead, they use mood and task lighting such as these ceramic table lamps.

The best known place in Denmark for studio ceramics, including ceramic lamps, is the Baltic island of Bornholm which is nearer to Sweden than it is to Denmark, and has been associated with the production of ceramics since the 19th Century.

Included in this collection are the glass table lamps produced by Holmegaard, often in collaboration with Royal Copenhagen.
