Collection: Frandsen Ball Lamps

Danish engineer Benny Frandsen designed his ball lamp in 1968. His design was probably influenced by Danish interiors designer, Verner Panton's, 1959 'Topan' Lamp.

The Frandsen Ball was produced as an 18cm wide pendant and a smaller, magnetic wall/table lamp. It was originally produced in brown and orange, the fashionable colours of the day.

The magnetic wall/table lamp, in particular, became extremely popular in Denmark in the 1970s/80s and most Danish homes would have had at least one.

Benny Frandsen originally licensed several Scandinavian lighting companies to produce his design in the 1970s and 1980s. Danish lighting companies ABO Randers and ES Horn seem to have produced the most.

These days, the Frandsen company produces the ball among other designs, designed in Denmark and made in China.
