Large Vintage Scandinavian Pinched Glass Decanter

Beautiful glass decanter in the very rare, and very mid century, amber brown colourway.

A wonderful gift for any whisky or brandy lover or someone with a home bar!

Known as the Kluk Kluk decanter (Glug Glug in English) because of the sound the liquid makes as it is poured out.

Kluk Kluk decanters like this feature in Star Trek because of their stunning, almost futuristic, shape.

Handmade in Scandinavia, probably in the 1950s-1970s.

It is not known which glassworks made this but possibly Hadeland (established in Norway in 1765).

The 'Kluk' decanter is a very old design that spread to Scandinavia from Germany in the 18th Century. As Hadeland is such an old glassworks, that used workers from Germany when it was first opened, it could have been making this style of decanter for centuries. Our guess that this is mid century is based on the peak production of this style but it could be much older.

Large size - 28cm high including the stopper. 8cm wide (10cm on the diagonal).

Excellent vintage condition with only very minor signs of age and no chips, including the stopper, which is unusual. May have signs of having previously held liquid.
