This is a small mug. It is 7.5cm high.

Each year Royal Copenhagen commissioned a different designer to design the annual mugs.

Made in Denmark in the year shown on the cup.

Makes an excellent gift for a person to mark their year of birth.

Excellent vintage condition with only very minor signs of age.

Royal Copenhagen produced an annual mug every year from 1967 to 2014.

These annual mugs came in two sizes. The small is like a large espresso or small tea or coffee cup and it is dishwasher proof so suitable for everyday use. The large is more of a tankard, intended as a display piece and has a circular silver disc on its base, some of which were engraved and are often polished out on resale. It is thought that the disc was made by Georg Jensen.

The small mugs are 7.5cm high and the large mugs are 12cm high. Both sizes had exactly the same design. From 1967 to 1994 the mugs were made of Faience (Fajance in Danish), which is a traditional pottery technique of tin-glazed earthenware that Royal Copenhagen specialised in at their Alumina site. From 1995 the mugs were made of porcelain which enabled brighter, coloured designs.
