______________________________________

Royal Copenhagen produced an annual mug every year from 1967 to 2014. Each year they commissioned a different artist to design the annual mugs.

The annual mug came in two sizes. Both sizes had exactly the same design.

Both sizes make excellent gifts for a person to mark their year of birth. From 1967 to 1994 the mugs were made of Faience (Fajance in Danish) which is a traditional pottery technique of tin-glazed earthenware that Royal Copenhagen excelled at in the Mid Century period. From 1995 the mugs were made of porcelain which enabled brighter, coloured designs.

The small one is like a large espresso or small tea/coffee cup and it is dishwasher proof so suitable for everyday use. The small mugs are 7.5cm high.

The large one is more of a tankard, intended as a display piece and has a circular silver disk on its base, which were often engraved and can be polished out on resale. The silver disks are believed to have been made by Georg Jensen. The large mugs are 12cm high.
