Authentic, original vintage Danish made ball lamp.

Lightweight spun aluminium vintage metal ball pendant lamps.

This style of ball shaped pendant was designed by Benny Frandsen in 1968 and manufactured by several Danish lighting companies.

Made in Denmark, probably in the 1980s/90s.

Made of spun aluminium with a gold coloured lacquered coating.

Very good fully working vintage condition with some signs of age, mainly light scratches to the surface

Approximately 18cm wide at its widest point and 15cm high.

Rewired with approximately 1.8 metres of vintage style black fabric cable.

Come without a ceiling canopy.

Take a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). Because the metal housing can get very hot we strongly recommend using low energy/LED light bulbs.

* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using energy saving/LED lightbulbs. E26 bulbs should fit although because they are 1mm smaller you may need to completely turn the bulb to ensure it makes contact with the fitting.

Frandsen's 1968 design was probably influenced by Verner Panton's 1959 'Topan' Lamp. The Frandsen Ball was originally produced as a pendant and magnetic wall lamp in brown and orange, the fashionable colours of the day, The magnetic wall lamp, in particular, became extremely popular in Denmark in the 1970s/80s and most Danish homes would have had at least one. These days ball lamps are made by the Frandsen company in China, but back then they were made by several Scandinavian lighting companies.
