Rewire of black metal Japanese table lamp in line with UK electrical safety standards

• Lamp examined and found to have a compact, non-earthable porcelain batten lampholder not designed for higher European voltage.
• Like for like compact porcelain batten lampholders are not available in UK specifications so an alternative solution was required.
• The solution would need to be earthed and incorporate a strain relief mechanism to be in line with UK regulations. A compact fitting was preferred to replicate the look and function of the original.
• Incorporating a strain relief was a problematic element and the customer was offered various options.
• The customer chose a bronze effect B15 lampholder as this was the neatest solution, on the understanding it would raise the bulb's position a little higher than originally, but still well within the lamp's housing.
• Customer also chose black cable.
• Parts were ordered.
• Parts fitted and lamp rewired as agreed.
