Rewire of two French Desk Lamps

• Lamps partially de-assembled and inspected.
• Metal lampholders require earthing in line with UK electrical safety standards.
• Existing lampholders not earth-able so replaced with like for like.
• Found to have non-standard French thread so require an adapter to standard 10mm.
• Toggle switch on black lamp couldn’t be repaired.
• Cardboard base removed, wiring examined and found to have unearthed “speaker” cable.
• The switch is in a plastic housing which cannot be brought in line with modern safety standards because the switch terminals are exposed and there’s no safe way of isolating them from the metal lamp base.
• 2 new inline switches fitted to both lamps.
• Isolators fitted to both lamps protecting the cable from sharp edges in base of lamps.
