Conversion of vintage ceramic ginger jar to a lamp

Work carried out as follows:

• Initial consultation with client who expressed a strong preference for the cable to exit via the base of the lamp rather than at the top. Metal bayonet lampholder chosen.
• Cable exit hole successfully drilled in the base.
• Client sent photos of her lamp with the various lampholder finishes and a range of cable colours that worked well with the lamp. Various options and considerations explained.
• Client chose aged brass switched lampholder with ivory cable.
• Lamp rewired with c20cm of cable left loose at the top to enable the client to insert a weighting product before glueing the top in place.
• Plastic grommit inserted in drilled hole and strain relief fitted inside, both safety enhancements.
