Boxed Dansk Designs Silver Plated Tiger Paperweight

The tiger is one of the more rarely found creatures and to find one in its box is extremely rare.

This tiger was part of a series of larger Dansk paperweights that have a two tone matt and gloss silver plated finish.

Comes in its original presentation box which has some minor signs of age.

Very good vintage condition, has some areas of tarnish on one side but is otherwise in excellent condition.

Approximately 6cm high and 9cm wide. Weighs 550g.

This cute paperweight is made of silver-plated zinc.

Most of this range was designed by award-winning Swedish silversmith, Gunnar Cyren, for Dansk Designs in the early 1970s.

It was made in Japan in the 1970s/80s and has ‘Dansk Designs, Japan’ on its base plus EPZ signifying its manufacturing technique of electro-plated zinc, a technology that the Japanese led the world in at the time.

As well as looking great, these paperweights are extremely tactile and have a real quality feel about them and make wonderful gifts.

Dansk Designs was started in the 1950s by an American who toured Europe seeking out talented designers to produce a range of homewares he could sell to the US market.

The range was designed to showcase Danish and Scandinavian design to an international audience and, due to their wonderful combination of form and function, Dansk Design items have become highly collectible including in their ‘home country’ of Denmark.
