Dansk Designs Kobenstyle Enamel Quistgaard Danish Jug - 18cm / 7"

Authentic, original mid century Danish-made jug.

Sunny yellow enamel pitcher with a stylish wicker-covered handle

Designed by renowned Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard in the 1950s.

Part of the Købenstyle cookware range for Dansk Designs.

Made in Denmark for Dansk Designs in the 1950s/60s.

On the bottom it has the four ducks logo indicating that it is one of the earlier models and is stamped “JHQ” (the designer’s initials) “Denmark” (the country of production).

It is approximately 18cm high at the highest point, 9cm wide at the base, and 12cm wide in the middle (widest part of the handle, narrowest part of the jug).

It is in good vintage condition. There is some loss of enamel as shown in the photos and some roughness to finish inside. The wicker-covered handle (an area prone to signs of wear) is completely intact.

The Købenstyle range was first designed in the 1950s. The range was designed to showcase Danish design to an international audience and Dansk Design items have become highly collectible, especially Quistgaard-designed items. Købenstyle items are particularly coveted as both utility and display pieces due to their stylish combination of form and function.

The Kobenstyle pitcher was made in 7", 8" and 9" sizes (approximatly 18cm, 20cm & 22cm). It was made in a range of colours including red, yellow and turquoise.

We believe that the enamel ware made in Denmark for Dansk Designs was made by Glud and Marstrand of Jutland who were best known for the blue enamel homewares they made including the iconic (in Denmark at least!) Madam Bla coffee pot which almost every Danish family would have used daily in the 1930s - 1960s.

Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected.

Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.

There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.
