Repair of modern floor lamp that had cable chewed by puppy

Work carried out as follows:

• First hope was to just rewire the lamp from the switch upwards but this wasn't possible because:
  • The switch was non-rewireable (it had 'push', rather than screw fittings) so couldn't be reused; plus
  • The neutral wiring looped over the switch and went all the way through the lamp to the lampholder meaning the whole cable had to be replaced.
• The lampholder was also found to be a non-rewirable push fitting and the plug was moulded (factory sealed in place) so both had to be replaced in order to rewire it.
• While the lamp was fully dismantled in order to rewire I took the opportunity to glue the split wood.
• Rewired with new black cable, E27 lampholder, footswitch and plug (all like for like replacements).
