Repair of two silver coloured lampbases

Work carried out as follows:

Both lamps had blown fuses so fuses replaced.

Lamps tested to ensure that wiring was safe as unsafe wiring could have caused the fuses to blow but wiring was found to be sound in both lamps.

One lamp was missing the top black plastic part of the lampholder. This is both cosmetic, but also a safety feature, as it covers the metal part to prevent fingers touching potentially live metal during bulb replacements. I fitted a replacement part.

Strain reliefs fitted to the base of both lamps as a safety enhancement. One could not be fitted without replacing the plug as it was a ‘moulded’ type.

Lamps given good cosmetic clean up including removal of a small area of rust.
