Vintage Very Large Danish Pendant Lamp 1970s Scandinavian Retro Scandi Ceiling Light
Vintage Danish 1970s Large Pendant Lamp Ceiling Light
Very large 64cm wide off-white pendant lamp, made in Denmark in the 1970s/80s. A very high quality lamp made of lacquered aluminum. Pared back elegant lamp in an impressive size.
The Calot pendant, model number 1041, was designed by, the then architecture students, Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup for Fog & Mørup in around 1970. In the 1970s the Danish lighting industry went through a period of mergers and the Fog & Mørup brand ceased to be used in 1978. The licence for producing this lamp was taken over by Focus Belysning who made this particular lamp.
This lamp was designed to be hung either high or low over a dining table, gently spreading its glow over a wide area.
We sourced this lamp directly from the beautiful home of a Danish architect who had purchased the lamp new in the 1970s.
It is in full working condition. It has been fully refurbished, retaining the original ceramic lamp holder, and using approximately 2.4m of white vintage-look braided cable.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). The bulb in the photos is a vintage-look G65 LED Filament 'radio spiral'.
* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should fit although because they are 1mm smaller you may need to completely turn the bulb to ensure it makes contact with the fitting. Alternatively, E27 bulbs should be available online in North America.
