Vintage Picquot Ware Aladdin Teapot English British Modernist Art Deco Style 2
Vintage Picquot Ware Aladdin British Teapot
Vintage English made teapot with beautiful art deco styling.
Designed in England in 1947 and made in a factory that had made parts for Spitfires and other aircraft during the war, presumably by the same skilled craftsman.
Made in Northampton, England. The writing on the base indicates it was probably made in the 1960s/70s.
Made of Magnalium with a sycamore wood handle.
It is 17cm high, 20cm wide.
The Model T4 was designed to make 4 cups of tea and holds approximately 1.5 pints, 850ml.
Both the woodwork and metal work/shine are in good vintage condition with some signs of age.
There is some staining inside from decades of bringing the British nation its favourite beverage!
It is made of an aluminum alloy, Magnalium, that was specially produced for the range and polishes up beautifully whilst retaining that lovely vintage patina. Picquotware was cast in one piece to minimise leaks when pouring, with the spout designed to be non-drip. The solid consultation is excellent at retaining heat.
The handle is made of sycamore wood. When plastic became fashionable and very widely used in the 1960s, the team at Picquot came under pressure to switch to plastic but they resisted saying that nothing has the same beauty as real wood.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also inevitably be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.
