Vintage Soholm Danish Fish Ceramic Pot Stand or Small Plate

A beautiful piece of Mid Century Danish studio pottery featuring a fish.

This would have originally have been designed as a small plate on which to serve an individual portion of bread - this was a traditional type of plate in Denmark.

Can be a display piece or used as a pan holder, although as it's a beautiful vintage piece we would suggest nothing too hot or heavy is placed on it or it might break.

Features a very glossy warm mid brown glaze with a design in other shades of brown.

Designed and made by Anna Bjerre in her pottery studio in the small Danish town of Struer, where she still works today.

Has 'Bjerre 1978, painted on the underside.

Handmade in Denmark in 1978.

Excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of age.

20cm wide by 15cm high and 1cm deep.

Joseph Simon was a highly accomplished, art school trained ceramist. He was born in Hungary and educated at the Academy of Art in Vienna. He worked for Soholm in the late 1960s.

Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected.

There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.

Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass and glazing imperfections in pottery, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
