Vintage Danish Enamel Ball Pendant Lamps - Price is for the pair (2)

Based on the classic design by Benny Frandsen in 1968.

Probably made in Denmark in the 1970s or 1980s. In very 1970s chocolate brown.

Lightweight aluminium pendants.

Approximately 17cm high and wide.

Fully working good vintage condition with signs of age as shown in the photos including one of the lamps having silver paint inside.

The condition has been factored into the price, so if you enjoy lighting with some vintage patina, this is your chance to pick up a bargain.

Rewired with approximately 1 metre of Italian- made vintage style black fabric cable.

Come without a ceiling canopy.

Take a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). Because the metal housing can get very hot we strongly recommend using low energy/LED light bulbs.

* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using energy saving/LED lightbulbs. E26 bulbs should fit although because they are 1mm smaller you may need to completely turn the bulb to ensure it makes contact with the fitting.

Frandsen's 1968 design was probably influenced by Verner Panton's 1959 'Topan' Lamp. The Frandsen Ball was originally produced as a pendant and magnetic wall lamp in brown and orange, the fashionable colours of the day, The magnetic wall lamp, in particular, became extremely popular in Denmark in the 1970s/80s and most Danish homes would have had at least one. These days ball lamps are made by the Frandsen company in China, but back then they were made by several Scandinavian lighting companies.

Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.
