Vintage Axella Pottery Danish Ceramic Table Lamp
Vintage Danish Pottery Ceramic Table Lamp - Medium-sized brown and ivory studio pottery table lamp made in Denmark in the 1960s/70s.
Features an unglazed, rustic textured upper in espresso brown with ivory satin glaze at the base in a striking textured relief geometric pattern. The circular relief designs jut out reminiscent of a hand grenade or naval mine - they are a quite stunning style statement!
Designed by Jette Helleroe for Axella. Has the designer and manufacturer’s details etched to its base.
Handmade in Denmark on the island of Zealand in the 1960s/70s.
Excellent vintage condition with only very minor signs of age.
34cm high, including the original brown Bakelite lamp holder, and 15cm wide at the base.
Full working condition. It has been rewired with a black vintage look braided cable. We can fit a British/Irish, European, Aus/NZ or American* plug.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). In the photos is a vintage style LED Filament G95 ‘Radio Spiral’ lightbulb (not included).
* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should work but because they are 1mm smaller they should be fully turned to ensure they make contact with the fitting. This lamp will take a European type/size lampshade with a ring of 1.5 inches (3.6cm) or alternatively a lampshade that sits on the light bulb.
If you would like to buy a lampshade to accompany your lamp we recommend the wonderful handmade lampshades utilising vintage fabrics by Dawn Witty - you can find her designs here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WittyDawnUK
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through. Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
