Soholm Pottery Danish Brown Peacock Ceramic Table Lamp 1960s
Soholm Pottery Danish Ceramic Table Lamp.
Absolutely beautiful large lamp, handmade in Denmark in the 1960s/70s.
Features a satin pecan brown glaze with warm blue and amber highlights, stunning rings of powder blue glaze around the top, and a textured relief pattern.
The textured design reminds us of the eyes on peacock feathers and we refer to this series as the 'Peacock'.
The overall effect is of a warm toffee glaze on an almost burgundy base.
This is a very special lamp and the bronze lamp holder and light blue cable complement it beautifully.
Designed by Maria Philippi for Soholm Pottery in Denmark.
Handmade on the Baltic island of Bornholm in the 1960s/70s.
Has its manufacturer’s details and designer’s initials on its base.
Excellent full working vintage condition with only very minor signs of age.
It is 32cm high including the lamp holder and 10cm wide at its widest point.
It has been fully refurbished. It has been rewired with a high quality vintage style bronze lampholder and light blue braided fabric cable. We can fit a British/Irish, a 3 pin European*, 3 pin Aus/NZ plug or 3 pin American** plug.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). In the photos is a vintage style LED Filament G95 'Radio Spiral' lightbulb (not included).
* Because it has a metal lamp holder this lamp needs to be fitted with a 3 pin earthed plug. If you live in a country that does not have 3 pin sockets then please let us know and we will change the lamp holder(s) to plastic ones so that they can be used with a 2 pin socket. Please let me know if you are unsure about this.
** If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should work but because they are 1mm smaller they should be fully turned to ensure they make contact with the fitting. This lamp will take a European type/size lampshade with a ring of 1.5 inches (3.6cm) or alternatively a lampshade that sits on the light bulb.
If you would like to buy a lampshade to accompany your lamp we recommend the wonderful handmade lampshades utilising vintage fabrics by Dawn Witty - you can find her designs here. If you contact her with a picture of the lamp you have bought she will make suggestions on a lampshade to suit it.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. But unless otherwise stated there will be no chips or similar damage.
