Robert Welch was an English designer and silversmith who studied at the Royal College of Art. He was very influenced by Scandinavian design, having visited Scandinavia extensively including studying in Stockholm. He also worked with Norwegian and Danish silversmiths and other Scandinavian designers.
After graduating he set up his own studio in Chipping Campden in the South West of England in 1955 and soon after designed the Campden range named after his studio’s location. The toast rack in the Campden range won a British Design Council award.
He went on to collaborate with / be commissioned by a range of prestigious and influential companies and individuals including Prince Philip, Danish steel homewares producer Lauffer (who produced steel products for Dansk Designs and Stelton), Poole Pottery and Royal Doulton. His children continue to produce products in the same studios to this day.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.
