Stelton Rare Early AJ Cylinda Line Coffee Pot Arne Jacobsen Lauffer Model 1960s Danish
Stelton AJ Cylinda Line Coffee Pot Arne Jacobsen - Rare Early Model. Designed 1967. Made in Denmark.
**This is a rare very early model with the name of German/Danish stainless steel manufacturer, Lauffer, on its base plus Arne Jacobsen’s initials. **
We believe that during the first few years of production Stelton was still collaborating with steel specialists Lauffer on fine-tuning the pressed steel sheet technology.
This iconic coffee pot was designed by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen in 1967 and made in Denmark as part of his 'Cylinda Line' for Stelton. It took over ten years from Jacobsen’s initial design in the 1950s to the perfection of the production process due to the precise engineering requirements of sheet steel. Even once this had been mastered, there was a further period perfecting the manual satin polishing process and fine-tuning the spout. The Cylinda Line truly is a masterpiece of both design and engineering.
Cylinda Line items are on display at Modern Art and Design Museums around the world. This was a modern, cutting edge design in its day and led the way for a whole new era of modernist design in homewares. With its clean lines and modernist design this coffee pot has a timeless appeal and would make a wonderful present for any lover of Mid Century Scandinavian design.
It holds 1.5 litres. It is 20cm high and 23cm wide from spout to handle. It is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of age/use.
This coffee pot is still produced but is no longer manufactured in Denmark. It retails for £239 / US$369.
