Vintage Abstract Pottery Danish Ceramic Wall Relief Tile

A striking and unusual piece of Danish Brutalist ceramic art with a pleasing design in wonderful colours.

The tile is made in a rough, unpolished style in line with the brutalist design.

The abstract design is very 3 dimensional with brutalist style columns protruding at varying depths.

The columns are satin glazed in beautiful green-grey-blue colours with a mottled finish.

The design features areas of glossy glazed orange like pools of lava and the background is satin textured earth brown.

Designed by Danish ceramicist Henning Orsted Johansen.

Handmade in Denmark in the 1970s.

Very good vintage condition with rough and unglazed areas which may be part of the design but it's hard to know.

Solid and heavy item. Has a place for a hook on the back.

22cm high, by 17.5cm wide and around 1.5cm deep although the depth varies with the design.

Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected.

There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.

Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
