Michael Andersen Pottery Danish Ceramic Table Lamp 1960s Marianne Starck Design 6197
Michael Andersen Pottery 1960s Danish Ceramic Table Lamp
Strikingly designed, large brown and beige vintage studio pottery lamp.
Dark and light brown smooth matt-glazed pottery lamp. Mottled beige neck with a textured geometric pattern on the square dark brown base.
Designed by Marianne Starck for Michael Andersen & Sons Pottery Studio.
Has the designer’s initials, the model number 6197, and manufacturer’s 3 fish logo etched to its base. Retains its original sticker.
Handmade in Denmark on the Baltic island of Bornholm in the 1960s.
Excellent vintage fully working condition.
Approximately 34cm high, including the original white lamp holder, and 14cm wide at the base.
It has been rewired with a black vintage look braided cable.
We can fit a UK/Irish, European, Aus/NZ or American* plug.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). In the photos is a vintage style LED Filament G95 ‘Radio Spiral’ lightbulb (not included).
* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should work but because they are 1mm smaller they should be fully turned to ensure they make contact with the fitting. This lamp will take a European type/size lampshade with a ring of 1.5 inches (3.6cm) or alternatively a lampshade that sits on the light bulb.
If you would like to buy a lampshade to accompany your lamp we recommend the wonderful handmade lampshades utilising vintage fabrics by Dawn Witty - you can find her designs here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WittyDawnUK. If you contact her with a picture of the lamp you have bought she will make suggestions on a lampshade to suit it.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected.
