Michael Andersen Lyfa Danish Table Lamp Ceramic Pottery Olive Green Khaki Bedside Vintage 1960s Bornholm
Michael Andersen Pottery Danish Green Ceramic Table Lamp. Lampshade available for additional cost (see below).
Very large vintage handmade Danish Lamp in a muted tone of dark olive green in the traditional Danish haresfur glaze.
A rare lamp that is the result of a collaboration between Danish pottery studio Michael Andersen, and Danish lighting company Lyfa.
Handmade in Denmark in the 1960s/70s by the Michael Andersen ceramics studio.
Features a satin dark olive green haresfur glaze. Has an attractive geometric textured relief design.
We presume the lamp to be designed by Marianne Starck who was Michael Andersen's main designer during this period.
Handmade in Denmark on the Baltic island of Bornholm in the 1960s/70s.
Has manufacturer's marks and model number 5986 etched on its base.
Includes the vintage traditional metal lamp shade holder (as shown in photo 7) which is designed to take a vintage Danish lampshade. Simply remove it if you wish to use a modern UK/European lampshade, a clip on bulb lampshade or an adapter that will convert it to a US harp lampshade holder.
The vintage Le Klint style orange Danish lampshade can be purchased for an additional cost. It is 25cm high and 40cm wide at the bottom.
The lamp 42cm high, including the original Bakelite lamp holder but excluding the traditional lamp shade holder, and 10cm wide.
Excellent fully working vintage condition. The lampshade is in very good vintage condition with a few frays.
Rewired with vintage look black fabric cable retaining its original Bakelite lamp holder.
We can fit a British/Irish, European, Aus/NZ or American* plug. We will send you the plug for the territory the order is sent to unless you advise otherwise.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). In the photos is a vintage style LED Filament G95 'Radio Spiral' lightbulb (not included).
* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should work but because they are 1mm smaller they should be fully turned to ensure they make contact with the fitting. This lamp will take a European type/size lampshade with a ring of 1.5 inches (3.6cm) or alternatively a lampshade that sits on the light bulb.
If you would like to buy a lampshade to accompany your lamp we recommend the wonderful handmade lampshades utilising vintage fabrics by Dawn Witty - you can find her designs here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WittyDawnUK. If you contact her with a picture of the lamp you have bought she will make suggestions on a lampshade to suit it.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through. Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
