Michael Andersen Ceramic Danish Blue Table Lamp Pottery Bedside Vintage 1960s Bornholm
Michael Andersen Pottery Danish Blue Ceramic Table Lamp
Large lamp with a beautiful striking design in pastel colours.
Handmade in Denmark in the 1960s/70s by the Michael Andersen ceramics studio.
Features a beautiful shiny mid blue glaze with warm amber and lighter pastel coloured highlights. Has an attractive geometric textured relief design and an unglazed biscuit coloured base.
We presume the lamp to be designed by Marianne Starck who was Michael Andersen's main designer during this period.
Handmade in Denmark on the Baltic island of Bornholm in the 1960s/70s.
Has manufacturer's mark and model number etched on its base.
30cm high including the original Bakelite lamp holder and 11cm wide.
Excellent fully working vintage condition.
Rewired with vintage look dark blue fabric cable using its original Bakelite lamp holder.
We can fit a British/Irish, European, Aus/NZ or American* plug.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). In the photos is a vintage style LED Filament G95 'Radio Spiral' lightbulb (not included).
* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should work but because they are 1mm smaller they should be fully turned to ensure they make contact with the fitting. This lamp will take a European type/size lampshade with a ring of 1.5 inches (3.6cm) or alternatively a lampshade that sits on the light bulb.
If you would like to buy a lampshade to accompany your lamp we recommend the wonderful handmade lampshades utilising vintage fabrics by Dawn Witty - you can find her designs here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WittyDawnUK. If you contact her with a picture of the lamp you have bought she will make suggestions on a lampshade to suit it.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through. Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
