These absolutely gorgeous, very special handmade glasses, were designed by Danish architect Bent O Severin in 1957 for Danish glass house Kastrup Holmegaard. They have a delicate waist and stylish bubble in the stem.
They are named ‘Princess’, presumably in honour of the Danish princess, now Queen, Margrethe. Princess Margarethe was 17 in 1957 and as Holmegaard has the royal warrant from the Danish court they may have been commissioned by the royal family for a special occasion such as the Princess’s debutante ball but we’re just speculating now! We guarantee you’ll feel like a Danish Prince or Princess if you sip from this stylish beauty!
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through. Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
