Holbaek Pottery Danish Ceramic Table Lamp Grey 1960s Vintage Retro Scandinavian
Vintage Holbaek Pottery Danish Ceramic Table Lamp
Handmade in Denmark by Holbaek Lervarefabrik (1879 - 1979) on the Danish island of Zealand in the 1960s/70s. Has its manufacturer’s details glazed on to its base.
Features a glossy mid grey glaze with a subtle mottled pattern.
Very good full working vintage condition with only minor signs of age. It is 27cm high and 13cm wide at its base.
It has been fully refurbished. It has been rewired with a high quality vintage style zinc lampholder and wine/burgundy braided fabric cable that beautifully complements the colour of the ceramic base. It has a British/Irish plug but we can fit a 3 pin European*, Aus/NZ plug or an American** plug.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). In the photos is a vintage style LED Filament G95 'Radio Spiral' lightbulb (not included).
* Because it has a metal lamp holder this lamp needs to be fitted with a 3 pin earthed plug. If you live in a country that does not have 3 pin sockets then please let us know and we will change the lamp holder(s) to plastic ones so that they can be used with a 2 pin socket. Please let me know if you are unsure about this.
** If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should work but because they are 1mm smaller they should be fully turned to ensure they make contact with the fitting. Alternatively, E27 bulbs should available online in North America.
A note on lampshades. We sell our lamps without lampshades but they are nearly all suitable for lampshades. Shading the glare from lighting is actually intrinsic to the Danish design and living (hygge) ethos. Poul Henningsen's classic pendant lamp is the perfect example of the Danish design approach to form and function - the multiple, angled layers of the pendant were specifically engineered to completely eliminate glare. If you would like to buy a lampshade to accompany your lamp we recommend the wonderful handmade lampshades utilising vintage fabrics by Dawn Witty - you can find her designs here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WittyDawnUK
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. But unless otherwise stated there will be no chips or similar damage. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through. Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
