Desiree Pottery Very Large Purple Red Ceramic Table Lamp Bedside Light Retro 1970s
Desiree Denmark Pottery Danish Table Lamp 1960s 1970s
Very large vintage Danish ceramic lamp in an unusual iridescent deep reddish colour.
The design is called 'Thule' and incorporates inspiration from the reddish-brown slopes of the Scandinavian countryside, icy green waters, traditional folktales (saga) and eskimo signs.
Has a shimmering satin glaze in a purple/red colour with very dark blue or black highlights in a drip glaze design.
Features a bold abstract textured relief design based on traditional eskimo iconography.
Made by Desiree Stentoj in Zealand Denmark, probably in the 1960s/70s.
Has manufacturer’s name, country of origin and model number etched to its base.
Excellent fully working vintage condition.
Approximately 44cm high, including the black lamp holder, 12cm wide and 9cm deep.
It has been rewired with black vintage style braided cable.
We can fit a British/Irish, European*, Australian/NZ or American* plug.
It takes a E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included). The bulb in the photos is a vintage-look G95 LED Filament bulb.
*If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should fit but because they are 1mm smaller may need to be fully turned to ensure they make contact with the fitting. This lamp will take a European type/size lampshade with a ring diameter of 1.5 inches (3.6cm) or alternatively a lampshade that sits on the light bulb. See FAQs for full details.

Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.
Handmade items may have slight imperfections, such as air bubbles in glass, which add to their uniqueness and charm.
