Danish Desk Office Blue Luxo Lamp 1970s Retro Anglepoise Style Enamel Scandinavian Design
Vintage Danish Luxo Blue Enamel Desk Lamp
Superb quality enamelled metal desk lamp in a rare and stunning mid/teal blue colour.
This fully adjustable and pivoting lamp is a high quality vintage item made with all metal fittings.
The Luxo 'Arkitekt' lamp range was first designed by Norwegian Jac Jacobsen in the 1930s.
This model was made in Denmark, probably in the 1970s.
The lamp arm is approximately 90cm high above the desk when fully extended. The shade is 19cm wide at its opening and 18cm long.
It is attached to the desk through a clamp mechanism.
This lamp is in fully working very good vintage condition.
It has signs of age including scratches, loss of enamel and rust.
Generally in really good condition for a lamp of its age and the patina really suits the industrial style.
It has been thoroughly refurbished with each part taken apart and restored. It has been rewired with vintage look black braided cable.
We can fit a UK/Irish, European, Aus/NZ plug or American* plug.
It takes a E27 bulb (not included) maximum 40w or 7w LED. The bulb in the photos is a vintage look ST58 LED Filament bulb (not included).
* If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using an energy saving/LED bulb. E26 bulbs should fit but because they are 1mm smaller they will need to be fully turned to ensure it makes contact with the fitting.
The Luxo ‘Arkitekt’ desk lamp, is a contemporary of the British Anglepoise lamp.
The first Arkitekt model, the L-1, was designed by Norwegian Jac Jacobsen in 1937 and is still produced today.
In the 1960s/70s Luxo lamps were produced by Danish lighting companies such as Louis Poulsen.
The pivoted clamp lamps produced in the 1970s were originally an all metal construction designed for industrial/commercial use.
In the 1980s/90s a lower cost version of this lamp using much more plastic was produced in a variety of bright colours and sold on the high street.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens and the device the image is viewed through.
