Soholm Danish Golden Amber Purple Table Lamp Vintage 1960s
Soholm Pottery Danish Ceramic Table Lamp
Stunning medium-sized lamp, handmade in Denmark in the 1960s/70s
Stylish, unusual and rare lamp with a wonderful glaze full of beautiful colours which seem to vary in different lights.
Features a glossy golden caramel brown crackle glaze with warm amber, purple, and blue/green highlights. There is mottled purple glaze on the neck and a ring of purple at the top of the wider, lower part. Has a textured relief design in the lower, hexagonal part with shimmering insets of blue/green.
Designed by Einar Johansen for Soholm Stentoj (Pottery).
Handmade in Denmark by Soholm on the Baltic island of Bornholm in the 1960s/70s. Has manufacturer's details, designer’s initials and model number etched on its base.
It has been fully refurbished with a vintage style brass lamp holder and light blue vintage look braided cable that complement the lamp beautifully.
30cm high including the vintage style brass lampholder. 14cm wide at the base.
Excellent vintage condition with no chips and only very minor signs of age.
Fully working condition. Rewired with a switch on the cable for ease of use.
We can fit a British/Irish, European, Aus/NZ or American* plug. It takes an E27 lightbulb, maximum 60w (not included).
Because it has a metal lamp holder this lamp needs to be fitted with a 3 pin earthed plug. If you live in a country that does not have 3 pin sockets please let us know and we will change the lamp holder to a standard plastic one so that they can be used with a 2 pin socket. Please let me know if you are unsure about this.
* In the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using LED/energy saving lightbulbs. E26 bulbs should fit but because they are 1mm smaller you will need to turn the bulb fully to ensure it makes contact with the fitting. This lamp will take a European type/size lampshade with an Uno style ring diameter of 1.5 inches (3.6cm) or alternatively a lampshade that sits on the light bulb.
If you would like to buy a lampshade to accompany your lamp we recommend the wonderful handmade lampshades utilising vintage fabrics by Dawn Witty - you can find her designs here. If you contact her with a picture of the lamp you have bought she will make suggestions on a lampshade to suit it.
Note that we have attempted to show and state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item and some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected.
