In Scandinavia it is rare to see a central ceiling light in a room and instead they use a combination of wall, floor and table lamps to create a relaxing and well-lit atmosphere.

Wall lamps are particularly popular over beds and are usually plugged into a socket with the cable running visibly down the wall rather than being hidden in the wall as is usual in many other countries.
